Wedding and Civil Partnership cakes are designed and made especially for you with your ideas and personality in mind. A design consultation to discuss ideas and options for your most special cake is advised, where you can taste and take samples home.
Wedding cakes can be designed to tie in with a theme, the bride's dress and colour scheme, a particular style, or all of these. It can be simple and undorned or more ornate in traditional or contemporary styles; stacked, separated by pillars or separators, or displayed on a split cake stand. All stacked and pillared wedding cakes are dowelled to ensure stability. Some examples of iced wedding cakes can be seen in the gallery below.
The taste and texture of your cake is equally if not more important than the outward appearance of your cake. My recipes have been perfected over time and they all have wonderful textures - they are moist, well flavoured and cut cleanly into slices that will not crumble or disintegrate on cutting. This is important as the appearance of the cake slice on the plate as it is offered to guests must clean and attractive.
My most popular wedding cake flavours are chocolate fudge cake layered with organic chocolate ganache, brandied rich fruit cake, Madagascan vanilla Madeira cake layered with vanilla bean buttercream and jam, lemon drizzle Madeira cake layered with zesty lemon buttercream, and spiced carrot cake layered with orange flower buttercream. Please note that I am unable to use nuts (including Marzipan) in my cakes due to a severe nut allergy in the family, so my cakes are made in a nut free environment.
